US President Joe Biden said on Saturday that he was deeply saddened by the news of the horrific train accident in India. 288 passengers were killed and over 1,100 were injured in a train accident in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday. The derailment took place when 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Express train derailed and collided with a goods train in Balasore district.
“I and (First Lady) Jill (Biden) are saddened by the tragic news of the horrific train accident in India,” Biden said in a statement. Our thoughts are with those injured and those who have lost loved ones in this terrible incident. America and India have deep family and cultural ties that unite the two countries, he said. People across America share this grief with Indians.
