MP Kapil Sibal targets the Center regarding Brij Bhushan Singh – ‘There will be no arrest’

After the protesting wrestlers met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has made a bold prediction on the outcome of the case against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Targeting the Centre, Sibal accused the government of shielding the accused MP. Sibal claimed on social media that Brij Bhushan Singh would not be arrested. Further, Sibal said that the charge sheet to be filed would be “willful” and then the BJP MP would get bail.

Sibal tweeted, “Amit Shah met the team of wrestlers. My prediction for a solution: no arrests. A fabricated charge sheet will be filed. Brij Bhushan will be given bail. Then they will say the matter is sub-judice!”

Senior advocate Sibal represented the protesting wrestlers in the Supreme Court. Earlier, on April 28, two FIRs were registered by the Delhi Police against the outgoing WFI chief. An FIR was based on a complaint by the father of a minor wrestler in which the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act was invoked. Conviction is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Following an order from the Supreme Court, Singh was charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include assault on a woman outraging her modesty (Section 354), sexual harassment (354A) and stalking (354D).

The MP has rejected all the allegations. Singh had said that even if a single allegation against him was proved, he would hang himself.
