The Panchayat election results of Bengal have increased the tension of the BJP. Compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the vote percentage of the BJP was almost halved. The BJP got 40 per cent votes in the last Lok Sabha elections, which came down to 23 per cent in the Panchayat elections. On the other hand, if we talk about Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC, even after the victory, the figures are not at all a relief. The matter of concern for Mamta Banerjee is that the Muslim vote which TMC used to get unilaterally has gone to the other party. The recently formed party Indian Secular Front has given Mamta Didi sleepless nights by shifting Muslim votes towards her. Overall, these figures can have an effect on both BJP and TMC in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
TMC has got a record victory in the panchayat elections. But the shifting of votes can make a difference in the Lok Sabha elections. This thing cannot be ignored. On the other hand, BJP has got more seats in this election than in the 2018 panchayat elections. However, if it is seen from the vote share of Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha, it seems worrying.
