AAP MP Raghav Chadha’s big statement, said

There is a war of words between the Center and the Kejriwal government in the capital over the ordinance brought by the Modi government at the Centre. Please tell that this whole matter is related to the appointment and transfer of administrative officers. The reaction of AAP MP Raghav Chadha has come to the fore. During a conversation with news agency ANI, he has misconstrued the concept of governor and lieutenant governor in the states. Raghav said that the offices of governor and lieutenant governor should be abolished.

Raghav Chadha said that ‘the trend is being seen in non-BJP ruled states that the powers of governments/chief ministers are being taken away through LG or Governor. Recently in Tamil Nadu the governor said that the MLA (Senthil Balaji) is not fit to be a minister. The constitution clearly states that the CM has full authority to choose the cabinet. This trend is dangerous for the country. I think the offices of governors and lieutenant governors should be abolished as it is a colonial hangover.’

He said that the jurisdiction of the Chief Ministers and the government is being snatched away through the Governor, it is worrying. I am not giving the example of Tamil Nadu government only, you take the example of Bengal, where there is a non-BJP government. Raghav told that ‘there the governor makes every possible effort to spoil Mamta Banerjee’s government, snatch her jurisdiction and interfere with her tenure’.

Raghav Chadha further gave the example of Rajdhani. He said that ‘Delhi is the biggest example of this country, where the Lieutenant Governor has only one aim to paralyze the government, finish the government and take away all the powers of the government. He further cited the example of the Aam Aadmi Party-ruled state of Punjab. He told that ‘the governor refused to give the paper permission, which is just a formality, to call the session of the assembly inside Punjab.’

Raghav Chadha has asked the states to end the concept of governor and lieutenant governor. He said that ‘the way this trend is being seen in the country, it is dangerous for democracy. I would say that the concept of governor and lieutenant governor should be abolished from this country. The offices of governor and lieutenant governor should be abolished. The governor culture which was left by the British in our country should be abolished and it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister and the government to run it, that responsibility should be absorbed in them only. The governor and lieutenant governor should have no role in this.
