Debate in European Parliament on Manipur violence, India expressed strong objection

There are signs of international pressure on India in the ongoing violence between Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur. Although India has opposed it. The European Parliament is debating the matter. But India has lodged a strong objection to this.

It has been said in the news of English newspaper ‘The Hindu’ that India has rejected the plan of ‘Urgent Debate’ on the Manipur violence of the European Parliament, calling it its internal matter.

The agenda for the European Parliament debate on Wednesday was to condemn the violence in Manipur and to direct the European Union to hold talks with the Indian government. The European Parliament wants the top officials of the European Union to talk to the Indian government and ask them to resolve the issue.

US Ambassador Eric Garcetti spoke on Manipur violence

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti also spoke on Manipur violence. Speaking at a press conference at the American Center in Kolkata earlier this month, the US ambassador said it was not a political problem but a human problem.

He had said, ‘We pray for peace in Manipur. I don’t think we as Indians need to worry about it when we see children and people dying in violence. If help is sought from us, we are ready to help in every way. We know that this is the case of India. We pray for peace and hope that peace will prevail soon.
