The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi. The MoU was signed in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This initiative is being taken under the ‘IIT Go Global’ campaign. This will be the second international IIT campus after IIT Madras Zanzibar. Indian Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted that an example of New India’s innovation and expertise, IIT Delhi campus in UAE will be a building of India-UAE friendship.
Outreach program for UAE students IIT Delhi has already started an outreach program for UAE school students as part of its offering to the academic eco-system of the country. The institute said that short courses and executive programs for the industry are expected to start soon.
The institute also said that degree will also be started from 2024. Courses at IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi will cover a range of areas such as Energy and Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Engineering, Healthcare, Mathematics and Computing and other disciplines of Engineering, Science and Humanities.
