World Milk Day 2023: World Milk Day i.e. ‘World Milk Day’ is celebrated every year on June 01 all over the world. In 2001, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization celebrated ‘World Milk Day’ on 1 June to recognize the importance of milk as a global food and to promote the dairy sector and its ongoing efforts.
‘World Milk Day’ is celebrated on June 01 only because many countries were already celebrating their National Milk Day in the first week of June. Initially, it was advised to celebrate ‘World Milk Day’ at the end of May, but finally June 01 was chosen for this day.
What is white revolution?
Kurien started the White Revolution in the year 1970. Its purpose was to promote the production of milk in India. From 1965 to 1998, Dr. Verghese Kurien was the chairman of the National Dairy Development Board. During this he tried to promote milk production to every corner of the country. Due to his efforts, today India has become one of the largest milk producing countries in the world.
